“The new IdeaPad U Series laptops from Lenovo provide style mavens everything they need in a slender, mobile and super chic package,” said Yao Yingjia, vice president, Innovation Design Center, Lenovo. “The U300s, U300 and U400 laptops are the perfect luxury accessory this season, liberating consumers on the go to combine productivity and entertainment in one stylish device.”
The sleek U300s Ultrabook features up to Core i7 processor (second generation), 13.3-inch HD display, 4GB DDR3 RAM and up to 256GB SSD. It combines Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Enhanced Experience 2.0 RapidDrive SSD technologies to achieve boot up in 10 seconds. The 0.6-inch thick U300s is built form a single piece of aluminum shell and weighs less than three pounds. From the side the U300s reminds me of PowerBook Titanium.
The laptop has one-of-a-kind Breathable Keyboard, an Intel Advanced Cooling Technology that allows air to flow in through the keyboard and out of the sides and rear hinge. This design removes the need for vents on the underside of the notebook – making it ideal for long periods of use on your lap or even on a pillow. Other features on the U300s are Bluetooth, WiFi, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports and 720p HD webcam (1.3-megapixel). It offers 8 hours of battery life and up to 30 days of standby.
The U300 and U400 come with 2nd generation Intel Core processors and offer boot up times of under 17 seconds with optional RapidDrive SSD technology. The U300 features a 13.3” HD display while the U400 has a 14” HD display and AMD Radeon HD5470M 1GB graphics. Both models can be specified with up to 8GB DDR3 memory, up to 1TB HDD storage and up to 256GB SSD storage. The U400 also has an integrated slot-loading DVD-RW drive.
The U400 can offer up to 7 hours battery life, while the smaller U300 offers up to six hours. Both the models also feature the Breathable Keyboard technology for virtually silent operation. Other features included on the laptops are HDMI output, SRS Premium Surround Sound, support for Intel Wireless Display Technology, WiFi, Bluetooth and HD webcam.
The U300s Ultrabook will ship in Graphite Grey or limited edition Clementine Orange colors with a starting price of $1195 in October. The IdeaPad U300 and U400 start at $849.99 and will ship in November 2011. Check out the Apple like U300s Ultrabook’s introductory video.
