Motorola ATRIX 4G Smartphone
The Motorola Atrix 4G Smartphone Gets Benchmarked

This morning AT&T began selling the Motorola ATRIX and since they are marketing it as the world's most powerful smartphone we had to buy one and take a look at the performance of this new smartphone. It also happens to be the first dual-core smartphone thanks to the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, with each core running at 1 GHz. The ATRIX also has 1GB of memory with 16GB of storage space that is expandable up to 48GB if you wanted to buy and insert a 32GB micro-SD memory card. With specifications like this we had to run some benchmarks, which will be a first for Legit Reviews as we have never ever benchmarked and compared smartphones.

In this week's show: Wikileaks founder Julian Assange loses a U.K. court battle, Intel makes a $5 billion bet on new technology, Motorola launches the Xoom, Fujitsu has an enterprise tablet and more.

Motorola Atrix 4G Coming ON 22 February

Posted by aashu Monday, 21 February 2011 0 comments

Motorola’s upcoming Tegra 2 powered 4G capable smartphone, the Atrix 4G is all set to arrive in stores across the US on February 22, 2011. AT&T has confirmed that the device would arrive on its stores across the country for $199.99. Pre-sales of the smartphone had already commenced on the 13th of February. The lucky folks who had preordered the device on that day would receive their phones on February 21.

These customers will get their phones delivered to their nearest AT&T store. If you have been under a cave for the past few months, the Atrix 4G gets a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, a 4-inch qHD touchscreen display, a full GB of RAM and runs Android 2.2.

The user guide of the world’s first Honeycomb tablet has been leaked by the guys over at Droid-Life. So if you already don’t know all that has been said about Motorola Xoom so far, here is your chance to download and read it all at one go. No new or shocking revelations are made in the user guide but DL points out that there is no mention of a required data plan to get WiFi working. You can download the user guide from here.

Members of the device tinkering community have managed successfully get a Droid device to connect to USB peripherals. The Linux-based Android OS should be readily extensible, but the hardware that is wrapped around the OS isn't always conducive to all the possibilities. The trick isn't quite polished, it involves making your own USB cord and some cable swapping during a hard boot. It's still a little buggy, but it's a great step forward.
Once the hack gets a few more people working on it, there should be more stability. Currently, it's not even really useful, devices are detected and powered up but not quite accessible. With the door open the Linux community should hop on board and knock the kinks out of it. Being able to access flash drivesMP3 playersTV tuners or digital cameras through USB On-The-Go should help extend high power cell phones like Droid into mobile Internet devices. Any thing that can run on Linux should be able to work on Droid. Lookhere for more news, hopefully wiring diagrams for the cable will show up so you can get in on the phone too. Video demo after the jump.

According to recent reports, it looks like the super-rugged can-take-any-abuse Motorola Defy is finally going to make its way into the Indian market, and is expected as early as January 24th, next week.

Dust proof and water resistant, the Motorola Defy also has a scratch-proof Gorilla Glass screen, making it suitable smartphone contender in the harsh Indian environments. The screen’s bezel is much hyped by Motorola for being remarkably thin, allowing for an edge-to-edge display. While it currently runs Android 2.1(Éclair) with MotoBlur and Live widgets as a light skin, the Motorola Defy is tipped to receive a Froyo (v2.2) update soon.
Specifications include a 800MHz OMAP 3610 processor (a welcome change from the under-powered 600MHz offerings), a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen (rather high res at 854x480), as well as a 5MP camera with autofocus. Internal storage is 2GB, which can be expanded up to 34GB with a microSD card.
For now, rumoured pricing pegs the Defy at approximately Rs. 20,000, something that justifies the premium of the onboard storage, 800MHz processor, and climate-resistant design.
Google Nexus S

The Google Nexus S is the Samsung built lead device of Google’s latest iteration of its Android mobile operating system – Gingerbread (v2.3). It also incorporates a whole bunch of new technologies and concepts on the hardware front, from a Near Field Communication (NFC) chip to a curved ‘Contour’ touchscreen for proposed touch ergonomics.
It has now been listed on two Indian online retailing sites, Flipkart and Infibeam, which list it as coming soon. AndroidOS.in reports that phone will be released by Samsung in India as the Nexus S, a.k.a GT-i9003, with a Super Clear LCD screen instead of the Super AMOLED screen that is currently retailing in the US and UK. It will apparently be priced at around Rs. 24,000 – a rathrgood value for money proposition when you consider the Galaxy S is still retailing for much more than that, making this rumoured price likely inaccurate
