Reliance Communications and Nokia have tied up today and announced a partnership that will bring integrated Ovi Store billing to Reliancesubscribers. The Ovi Store is Nokia's idea of a one-stop-shop for mobile content, using which users can personalize their Nokia devices. It contains applications, games, videos, podcasts, productivity tools, web and location-based services etc, and those who didn’t have a payment option for the Ovi Store now have access to it.

A tie-up of convenience, for users that is.

"Nokia and RCOM have had a longstanding and an extremely fruitful association, and this new venture will only strengthen our joint mission to offer enriched services to our loyal consumers. This relationship brings exclusive apps through Ovi Store coupled with a convenient purchase process. This service will usher in significant growth in adoption and usage of apps in India. This service is a big step in a series of innovation led product from RCOM," said Prashant Gokarn - 3G Head, Reliance Communications

V Ramnath, Director - Operator Channels, Nokia India had this to say, "Our partnership with Reliance Communications is a big step towards providing Indian consumers easy and simplified access to Ovi Store content through operator billing. The response from consumers in India has already exceeded our expectations, with the number of weekly downloads crossing 4.5 million. We believe our partnership will help accelerate this further. Ovi Store is focused on providing relevant and useful content to our consumers to help them get the most out of their mobile lifestyle.  For Reliance consumers, we have especially made available over 17,000 pieces of locally relevant paid for content."

This service will be available to both post-paid and pre-paid users, with the payments being made either in the form of the monthly bill, or deductions from the pre-paid balance.
