A user-developed tweak to the Samsung Nexus S firmware is capable of overclocking the handset's processor by approximately 20 percent. The Nexus S' chip normally runs at 1GHz, but a new kernel based on the Bionix NS1 mod ups the processor to 1.2GHz. Google's decision to keep the bootloader unlocked lets users make the change relatively easily.
The hack does have some flaws, notably lack of Bluetooth support, and involves the chance that the processor will be damaged. As with most custom firmware or non-stock hardware changes, the developers note that the 1.2GHz overclock is done at the user's own risk
